06 gt leaking water? what can it be?
its not my car but my buddy's identical car except for the color its a 06 gt 5spd, it has a bbk cai, steeda underdrive pulleys, and magnaflow axle backs. the car is leaking water from the reservoir's cap, the car had a overheating issue and the problem was fixed it was the thermostat, car leaked water and the cap was replaced since we though it was just the cap it stop leaking but its doing the same we let it leak and waited if if was just topped off too much but no luck the reservoir tank is under the cold limit the rises the point were it leaks....please help

RE: 06 gt leaking water? what can it be?
The coolant reservoir cap should not leak when it's on properly. In other words, you should be able to remove the reservoir (two screws hold it in) and flip it upside down without anything leaking (you don't have to remove any hoses to do this). Are there any small cracks in the plastic coolant reservoir near the cap (i.e. near the threads)?
You can go to AutoZone (or other auto parts store) and rent a coolant system pressure tester. Disconnect the small hose from the coolant reservoir and feed it into a container (like an empty 1-gallon jug). Plug the open end of the coolant reservoir with something. You can then use the pressure tester to pump coolant through the system. It should come out of the return line (that you fed into an empty container) as you pump coolant through the system using the pressure tester. Some testers have a pressure gauge on it, so you should get some kind of reading (don't remember what the pressure should be, but it's listed on the reservoir cap). If there is a leak somewhere you might be able to find it.
Hope that helps.

Sounds like a head gasket issue. Have the overflow tank checked for hydrocarbons.

if it is an issue with the head gaskets would it matter if car doesnt overheat or run hot temperature/////////// stays a bit under halfway. but like i said the car did overheat twice once it went into safe mode and the termostat was replaced by the dealer underwarranty

Check for air in the system, that would cause the level to boil over and spill out. Start at the simple things. You can have a garage check for HC in the coolant with a meter, but with underdrive pulleys and a recent thermostat change, I'd say it's air in the system. It has a CAI, does it have a tune too? Need to recheck all the parameters of the tune, could be something amiss there too.
