I have never heard of the Optimum. [&:]
What you want is the Optima Red-Top

My brother has one like this in his Neon and has never had a problem from it even though his stereo has 2 amps and a sub.

Are optimas really much lighter than stock?

Side note: The mods are really getting goofy about relocating threads. Why exactly was this moved?

They are a tad lighter but they have more cranking power so you could in turn run a smaller battery.

If you're really serious about losing weight with your replacement battery, I've heard good things about Odyssey batteries:

I think you could shed 15 to 20 lbs. with the lightest Odyssey battery...
