Switching From EVO to Brenspeed tune?

RE: Switching From EVO to Brenspeed tune?
I've found a noticeable difference in Evo and Brenspeed tunes with Brenspeed far ahead. I have an auto and that may have been part of the difference but the engine ran better overall too. For $75, it's definitely worth it IMO. Unless you have a real good tuner in your area with alot of experience on S197s ignore the people who tell you to get a dyno tune.
There are few people in this country who can tune an S197 better than Brent. I brought my car to pure Mustang shop operating for over 18yrs for a "dyno tune". They got a 2 hp increase over Brents tune and I liked the shifting of Brents tune better anyway. So much for $400. At another 'performance' shop thay had a 'dyno day'. The guy didn't even know what the T/C lockup on the dyno graph looked like. He had no idea what that 'little blip' in the graph was. So again, save you money on the "custom tune" crap, unless you're near someone with a good reputation with our cars, and I know of no one in Canada with such a reputation.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, so I would be interested to hear the results if you should switch. Unless I hear there is a real difference from a few more people, I'm sticking with Evo.

RE: Switching From EVO to Brenspeed tune?
I love my EVO tune, but Fred personally took it for a ride with me & tweaked some shift points. I would still like to try another tune but I may go back, I have never had a cel or any other problem & my vert auto ran a respectable 13.45 with a terrible start my only time at the track. Funny someone mentioned Brents skill with auto tunes cause Fred claimed to be the best at tuning auto's & his drag cars were auto's. I'm sure all the tuners have learned a thing or two since I got mine back in 11/06. Bottom line is I wouldn't expect alot from another mailed tune but if you have the coin why not try. I probably will.

For only $75 it's worth a try if you can afford it. I didn't try Evo's so I can't compare, but I found that there is a noticeable difference between Brenspeed and Bama/VMP. If you don't try it then you'll always wonder if you're missing out

RE: Switching From EVO to Brenspeed tune?
I've tried both Evo and Brenspeed before the supercharger and I preferred the Brenspeed tune. I know I may seem biased with my current set-up but I tried both tunes about 2 years ago before I knew much about either tuner and way before I was thinking about the supercharger. Both tunes provided great power but the Brenspeed tune was much more smooth and shifted a bit harder. I had my father drive it with both tunes and he felt the same way.
As far as dyno tunes, unless you are going supercharger or turbo, I don't think you'll see a huge power increase compared to the tunes from the big tuners compared to the money spent. When doing my first tune with Evo, I spoke to Fred and he said I could expect maybe 5hp increase from a dyno tune so it really wasn't worth the money. They've been doing the tunes now for 3+ yrs so I believe they have them dialed in pretty well by now.
