hood weight? stock vs aftermarket
just curious if anyone knows how much the stock hood weighs and for those that have installed aftermarket hoods what is the weight, brand and style of your hood. I have my car down to 3200 lbs and have some more parts coming that should get me down to a little over 3000 but I dont have my cage in yet so still looking at options on putting this pig on a diet and If I can save a little weight my next option will probably be the hood. thanks for any input

The stock hood is light weight compared to most hoods. I don't think it'd be worth the cost to save weight on an aftermarket one. If I were serious about shaving unnecessary weight, the first thing I'd do is remove the passenger airbag. I pulled it out to install a gauge in the center vent panel and that joker is heavy! You'd have to fab up a panel to replace it or have a nice hole there for storage.

thanks for the info, If I can find a way to remove the passenger air bag I probably will because it will havea full cage and 5 point harnesses, but I still want to retain the stock look of the dash if possible. If I can however shave another 20 lbs or so with a lighter hood It would be worthwhile to me since that is pulling weight off of the nose of the car and is raced on a regular basis

My hood wieghs about the same as the stock one. A little heavier if anything. Not sure what the exact weight is though. Carbon fiber might be the lightest if anyone could chime in that has a CF.
