There are several on cars.com listed for 17k within a 500 mile radius of me. The three I looked at have from 40k-65k miles.

The question is.. is it better to spend 17k for an 05 GT with ~50k miles or get a used 06-07 v6 with 20k miles for the same price?

It depends on what you want. Clearly the GT would be the quicker of the two. And the gas mileage is not that far off. Just keep your foot out of it and you'll be okay. To me it wouldn't be a contest, but to each his own. Good luck, keep us posted.

It's a tough choice because of the high miles. I think most on here would go for the v6.. I see tons of posters spending 23k on a brand new v6 when they could get a used GT for 6k CHEAPER. So mileage does factor in.

I'd suggest looking for a GT with under 25K miles and negotiate it's price to your range.

i drove a 6er from 2005 until 2007, than i bought the GT and gave the 6er to the wife. I would not get a mustang without the 8 having owned both. that is just me. I love the power. I no longer have to get the look that GT owners give to 6ers which used to **** me off. It's like being in the locker room when swinging ***** Bubbah swings his way into the showers and you feel like leaving cause you're only 9 inches! Mustang is a muscle car. If you buy it without the muscle, you buy a car.

when you turn around to sell the v6, nobody is gonna want it. Also the gt has a better resale value.

find an 05 with less miles.. it'll be more than 17, but it'll be worth it

I'm getting an 05+ gt come spring, and look for them reguarly, and you can find a solid 05 Gt with low miles (under 10,000) for around 20 grandor less. I would keep looking for one of those if I were you.
