Hood shake fix?

Hood shake fix?
When I am driving at highway speed sometimes my hood will move up and down a little especially on windy days or higher speeds. I am not sure if this is normal for these cars but I checked everything and it is all ok and the hood is not loose at all. My question is if I put hood pins in it will it fix this? I worry that I might end up with a hood that still tries to shake and 2 hood pin shaped dimples in the hood. Thoughts?

It's a common problem. I had this too, I adjusted my rubber bump stops and it almost eliminated it. I still get it a little but, but only at speeds that I'd go to jail for if caught.

I don't think hood pins will help. What you can do is turn the hood bumpers at the front counter clockwise. This will lengthen them and make the hood harder to close, but also make it tighter when closed.

Its normal but try adjusting the stops a little. It might not be a perfect fix but it might help. This isn't a dangerous condition even though it looks scary when it happens. Many experience this in there s197s. I've had it happen in many of my previously owned cars of many different makes.

Thanks for the replys guys. I had already adjusted the stops to the point that any farther and i will be making the hood higher than the fenders...maybe next I will lower the hood latch to make it tighter against the bumps. My main concern was if it was normal for these cars or not, now that I know it is I won't worry once I adjust it out.

Yes, it's a common issue. Use the search function, as I recall seeing someone discuss the addition of weatherstripping along the top of the headlights (or something like that) to reduce the amount of air causing the "lift".

I have a carbon fiber hood and have the hood stops adjusted all the way to the point of the hoodline not matching the fenders. This helped a good bit but it still shakes. Its gotlarge heat extractors and bounces around a good bit. I'm planning to eventually put hood pins but it seems really tight parked. I'm not so sure the hood pins would help at all. I actually had a guy in a truck riding next to me one day roll his window down and tell me to check my hood.
Had a buddy ride next to me up to 80mph the other day and he said the front end of the hood never budged so I felt pretty good about it. I can just see the center lift up/down at speed and its kind of disturbing. I've learned to live with it.
