Anyone have an answer to this..... (see below)

I have the hurst and I powershift all the time at the track and haven't missed a gear yet. *knock on wood* The hurst just snaps into second and its literally impossible to miss third when powershifting with it. Thats just my personal experience with the hurst I haven't used any other aftermarket shifter.

Thanks for the responses guys, I guess more or less what I should have asked is "does the Hurst perform well enough to justify the savings from the MGW or Pro shifters?" I know you often get what you pay for, so i'm not expecting to pay $100+ less on something and get the quality/ performance of the more expensive item.

Thanks again for the input.
I believe this all comes down to if you are wanting to powershift or not. If you do want to powershift, I reccomend staying away from the hurst and getting the MGW, solved my problem. If powershifting isnt an issue then I would go hurst, i loved the look and feel of it, just couldnt get over how it wouldnt PS for the life of me.
Hurst seems to powershift fine for me. Grip it and rip it!
+1 definatly love my hurst

Question though how do you powershift? Basically its just keepin the gas on the floor, no clutch, and shift through the resistance? Isnt that bad for your clutch?

I really like the Hurst but I have never tried any of the others. I have not had any trouble speed shifting it.

I like the look/feel of the hurst but i will say the quality is low. The first one I got was terrible and the spherical bearing was broken so it rattled llike crazy. I sent it back to Hurst (on my dollar) and they sent me a new one which just finally got here after WEEKS and I just put in in yest. Guess what......it rattles. It can't be the handle either like others claim because I tightened the hell out of it and the first acceleration I did it rattled. This is just like the other one. Its a cool shifter and cheap but certainly isnt worth I headache I get from having to deal with it. Just my .02

Bottom line, you get what you pay for:

MGW: Quality, performance, simplicity of installation, and support.

There is no substitute.

Ya they are pretty easy. Very easy if you have two people working on it. One under the car and one ontop.

I never did more than change oil before this Mustang. Since buy this car, I have done a lot including the new billet shifter from Hurst. There is literally 4 bolts underneath. Take them off and replace the shifter, then tighten bolts. The new shifter took two seconds to slide into place from inside the car.

Taco Bill has a great step by step instruction. I did it myself. Biggest pai was sliding under the car with it up only on jackstands (I'm 6'1" 280). You can do it.
