bitchin seatbelt retainers

RE: bitchin seatbelt retainers
I bought a pair of the "bitchin" seatbelt retainers from the guy, so I'll review them here. I thought it was a great idea and didn't look too bad. I really commend the guy who made them. He took a piece of aluminum and made something that has real potential for us. However, for the retainers to work properly(for me at least), they would need to be about 3.5 inches longer and shaped a bit different.
The seatbelt problem in the S197 is really not just reaching around and grabbing it to buckle up at the beginning of a trip. The real problem is that the seatbelt cuts painfully across the necks of 90% of all drivers instead of comfortably resting on the chest of the driver. Not only is that highly positioned seatbelt damned uncomfortable in the S197, but it's probably dangerous. The harness postright behind the door window needs to be lowered about five inches to be comfortable for most drivers.
The "bitchin" retainers are a great idea, but have not worked out too well. They do keep the belt close to your shoulder so that upon startup you can reach it easily, but they cause the belt to cut even deeper andtighter into your neck as you drive. No matter what I do, I find myself fighting constantly with the seatbelt in this car.
My wife likes our GT, but says the biggest problem is the supremely uncomfortable seatbelts. She couldn't care less about the front end THUNK, but the seatbelts have caused her to try to persuade me to trade the GT.
