i know you're stock and have tried different brands of gas, but have you tried higher octane gas (I'm assuming your running 87 with the stock tune)?

Have you tried using a higher octane gas? If that helps than more than likely the gas stations local arn't selling what they're advertising.

I appreciate your help thumpermx113 but i dont think i should

I'm saying you need to try using a higher octane gas to actually see if that is your problem. If it goes away with the higher octane gas than yes thats your problem. But if it doesn't, than it's probably not pinging and something else like others have already stated.

+1 Go through a couple of complete tanks of the next higher octane, not just a top-off or filling up on a 1/4 tank. Rather, let it rund down to like an 1/8th and then fill up. Go through a couple of tanks and see how it does afterwards.

Also, if feasable you couldtry a wideband dyno pull or two with the fuel you're currently using just to see how she's running.

Appreciate that martymoose never thought about the dyno, but one more question
if the car is running too lean or too rich what can i do to correct it what will the dealership do
ifi take it to them with the problem.

I see what you're saying. I had an '01 auto that would ping under load (accelerating). Even w/ higher octane it would still ping a little, you know, with the AC on and accelerating and whatnot. I thought it might have been normal characteristics - even took it to a dealership under warranty (they said they "reset the fuel tables"). After a couple of intake upgrades and dyno tune it never pinged again.
