I have a new 2005 Mustang V6 and the speed govenor kills it at 112 mph. I know there is a way to do this without buying a chip[:@][]

As I understand it, based on posts here, and magazine articles. The only way there is to reprogram, aka flash, the computer. Sounds like around $250-$350. I think the days of a chip swap (which was a lot harder than the newer flash method), are gone.

So how would you know how to get it turned off even if you had a computer?

RDEMOSS,

I do know that both SCT and Diablo allow you to remove the speed limiter and you can adjust the rev limiter as well. I know of no way to turn off the speed limiter without the use of a stand alone chip or a tunable unit such as the ones mentioned above. However, seeing as you are bumping the limiter now it shows me that you are looking at the performance aspect of your new car. That being said, an SCT or Diablo can be your best friend. Just a canned tune alone is worth the admission price for the tuners. Add to that the fact that you would then have the capability to trtune as needed for any additional mods that you may add over time. Also, without a tuner you will not be able to go to a Dyno in the future and have some custom tuning done to dial the car in properly.
