Default My mustang story

Let me start off by saying I never liked Ford and hated the look of a Mustang.
Now that I have your attention, that was actually true until a couple of months ago.

My Mustang story starts with a bad wreck and ends with a dream car.

I was celebrating my 20th anniversary with my wife in Hawaii on a 7 day cruise around the islands.
We rented a Mustang convertible on the first day of the trip because we wanted to see how they drove.
We pickedup the rentaland had an hour to kill before going on a helicopter ride so we went for a drive.
After leaving the airport and driving about 2 miles I was rear ended by a pickup truck causing lots of
damage and a ruined vacation.
(see picture)

We received another Mustang within an hour and made the helicopter ride. We were both in pain and had to make the best out of it.
Most of thethe trip was acomplete disaster.

On the trip we rented two Mustangs and a Crossfire and started getting the new car bug.
I was so impressed with the way the Mustang handled the accident and protected us.

Several months later we started looking for a GT with no hood scope and ended up buying a California Special with the works.
I now love the Mustang and I'm starting to get use to saying the word Ford without getting a nauseating filling.

Next up: Putting on some Flowmaster 40’s.

Good story/tragedy. Glad it brought you to the herd. I like the hood scoop btw. I have one myself! Good color choice too!

I would warn you not to jump the gun on the Flowmasters because they don't sound the same on this model Mustang as they do on the previous model. There is not much difference in the sound of the Flowmasters and stock mufflers, but they are louder. Go to youtube or google video and listen to many sound clips before you make your decision. Also ask people on here. We will be glad to help.

Grats on your new ride!! She's a beaut.....

Gotta say, it's one of the most unusual purchase stories I've seen....Hope you are both feeling better.....

You may want to check the Flowmaster American Thunder series before jumping into the 40's......

Grats,
Mike

Glad to hear you werent seriously injured in the accident and congrats on the new vehicle. Inever realy gave the mustang much thought either until about a month ago when I went with a buddy of mine to the Ford dealership so he could get some ordering info on the Bullitt. After arriving at the dealership we test drove a GT and I ordered one the next day. Today I went to thedealership again with my friend so he could get some info on a pickupfor his father whenI spotted a vista blue CS/GT that had just arrived at the dealership.(completely different from what I ordered) Well to make a long story short I pick up the vista blue CS/GT monday.

Strange things happen! Look at all the Fox Body guys who used to be Mopar Guys.
They had to do something once the supply of old RWD Mopars started to dry up.
Over the last few years we have had an influx of LS1 F-Body guys buying Stangs.
Their driver is all used up and Chevy has nothing to offer (Yes I know thats about to change).

Ive owned everything from Italian Cars to German Cars and American Cars from AMC to Pontiac.
In the end they are just cars. Even the Red Italian ones!

Glad you recovered and are enjoying the Mustang!
