Help!! Turn Car off & Dash stays lit.
Hello
Just today i turned my car (2005 V6)off as per normal and the inside lights would not come on. Also the ABS, alternator etc lights stayed lit. As soon as I put the key in and started the car then everything is ok. I ran it a while and same result; as soon as i turn the key to the off the dash lites up with the indicators on. Has my alternator or battery gone bye bye or does this seems like some electrical glitch. I do have a custom Car stereo but ive had it for 2years and no problems. Only 37km on my baby so im not sure whats going on.
Any advice would be appreciated till I can get this into Ford in the morning.
Thanks

In the 'old days' what you have would most likely be a bad ignition switch, especially with the idiot lights staying on. That would have been an easy 10-minute / $40.00 fix right in your garage. Can't say that is the issue now with computers running everything. Hopefully a trouble code will show up and pinpoint the problem at the dealer.

It could be the alternator gone belly up and passing 12v up the voltage sensing line. Alternators usually burn the charge diode packs out but sometimes they can crap themselves in imaginative ways. I have seen this before.

Do you perhaps have an ipod connection to your stereo? It messed up my car. Can't remember the model but if you do a search of this forum it will come up. Easy fix is to disconnect your battery. I found that once my started it kept happening. Pulled out the ipod adapter and no more problems. I got a different one and have never had aproblem since.
