What kinds of speeds do you drive for highway driving? For me, I usually average about 20.5 mpg with a pretty large percentage city driving. I would say close to 50%.

Also give it a little time if you just picked up the car recently, at first when I was driving mine, the computer was giving me some terrible MPG values and gradually they've been increasing for me

Be sure that you're resetting the on-board at each fill-up (at the pump) and don't touch it in between fill-ups. Also, hand calculate. The on-boards on the 05-09's are notorious for being about 2 MPG conservative (on the high side).

Many, many variable to getting good fuel mileage. And if the fuel you get from tank-to-tank varies in the % ethanol, that just makes it all the worse to figure out.

I average close to 21 mpg, hand calculated with probably 75% being city driving. Of course, I also rarely get above 2k rpm except for the rare occasion that I get a wild hair growing.

Wow, old thread.

Driving manual or auto? Cruise control? Gear ratio? It makes a difference in fuel economy. I get average of 21mpg strictly highway driving, 16.8 city/suburban driving or 18.2 mixed. This is with a 2006 auto GT.

Your poor car I feel like I am short shifting if I do anything below 2500. How do you stay under 2?

EDIT: Holy crap. This is an old thread!

I would say something's wrong if you go out to take a drive and notice that. Also, perfect way to test is to sit in a parking lot and do nothing. The bar chart should 0 out.
