So many other accident stories - now I get to be part of that club . I have been accident free for like 7 years now, but 3 months after getting my brand new 07 GT, some lady decided to use the back of my car as her brakes.


Short version of the story, is someone in front of me stopped in the middle lane of a busy road, so that he could turn right when the right lane of traffic cleared. I stopped behind him (cursing him in my head of course) and the person behind me didn't see me stopped and ran right into me. I don't think she ever even had time to brake. Luckily, we were coming from a red light a few hundred feet back so she wasn't going all that fast yet. Everyone walked away from the accident and seems fine. I'm a bit sore, but that is to be expected. So far it seems like she is claiming responsibility, but we'll see what happens when her insurance company gets involved. She was cited though.

So, it looks to me like the bumper will have to be replaced, lookes dented / cracked in a few places. Now the real question is - if my repair shop is ok with ordering a different bumper with me paying the cost difference - what should I go with? I've looked at the Roush bumper - any other recommendations? Couldn't afford it before so I haven't looked around a lot yet.

On a bright note - the backup camera I have (in the license plate area, top left corner) took that direct hit and is working perfectly still. Quality backup camera if you ask me.

Wow, it looks like they hit you hard enough to get up under the bumper and do additional damage. I've seen a few pics of rear enders with these S197's where they were hit at 40mph+ and it didn't look that bad.

Supposedly 5 star front/rear crash ratings. One of the factors that swayed me towards the stang...

Looks exactly like what happened to me...same tailpipe turned down and pushed in too. be sure to check the trunk and make sure the lid isn't bent cuz i didn't check there and now i have a nice little black fub spot from my blackout panel on the rear from continuily closing and opening the trunk[:@]
