Default 4:10 Gears

Please excuse me as I am a rookie at all this.

What exactly will 4:10 gears to to a stock 2006 GT?

More responsive acceleration, worse gas mileage..on the hwy anyways.
The car will feel much quicker.

Quicker acceleration, less MPG's on the highway due to higher RPM's at any given speed.

However, when you combine a couple of bolt-ons, along with the lower gears.........

I wouldn't suggest a 4.10 if it is you first and only mod. It does make your car jump but if you are unsure you might not like the side effects. You will need to get stickier tires if you want to enjoy the benefit. 1st and 2nd is spin city on stock tires. I think you lose more than you will gain. Get a tune or exhaust if you aren't planning on going ape**** with mods.

I just bought a GT and am picking it up this week. I just found out about the 4:10 gears. The car is a beauty and I am wondering if I am going to bite off more then I can chew. The car is riding on Nitto (554 I think) tires.

Would it be a good idea for me to revert to the stock gears? How expensive would that be?

Wait your saying the car already has the Gears in it. Well that's a whole different story, I thought you were asking about doing the install. Now you have a chance to try out the 4.10's, and make your own decision from there.

4:10 GEARS =

IF you are into racing the car...

if not...like mentioned above I dont think you are going to like the side effects. My old 05' GT had 4:10's and I loved them. Its really a personal choice. Drive the car and if you like it..keep it...if not...get some stock 3.73's

Side effects being a little slide and reduced MPG on highway?

Will it slide and cherp with casual/non aggressive driving?
