The push button on my e-brake handle rattled pretty bad at times. I figured it was the spring loose in there. I didn't want to try to take it apart, so I shot some heavy white lithium grease in there that would not melt at summer temps. Has worked for over a year now.

I still think you have transmission chatter like mine. I haven't tried to get rid of mine yet. There's nothing wrong. It's just a side effect of the billet aluminum arm. It transfers transmission sounds to the cabin more than the stock rod.

MAN! I love my Tri-Ax! That's one smooth, easy-shifting piece of fine machinery!

I have the same rattle too, but mine is definately coming from my Roush short shifter. The only way I can get it to quiet down is to put my hand on the shifter ball and keep light pressure against it in any gear. I love the shifter but hate it when im trying to talk on the phone. 3rd gear is the worst though.

thewarmachine, if the noise i'm hearing is just transmission chatter, does it make sense that i ONLY hear it when i'm driving faster than 40mph? i did buy cobrabob's shifter gaskets, btw - maybethat'll help too.

Mine only happens in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear...so that's probably 40mph or more also. It does make sense to me. Those gears don't turn as fast as 1st or 2nd, so instead of the noise matching the engine noise, it's at a different frequency which resonates down that shifter beam. Mine is a real lugging sound in 5th gear.

I'm not so sure about those gaskets. My tri-ax came with an isolator kit...a rectangular rubber spacer that goes between the upper and lower stick. I've had it installed from the beginning, so I don't know if that chatter would be louder without it or not. I hope it helps you. I'm also going to stuff some old rags underneath the leather shift boot to try to deaden the sound. I've heard this works.

There is a small rubber bumper that has come loose and dropped out
on the eBrake handle. [:@]

I got my gaskets from "Cobra Bobs shifter gaskets" and it didnt quiet anything. My rattle is coming from where the ball of the shifter arm is inside the poly mount. There is some slight play up and down and when the car is in gear the shifter arm rattles around that clearance void. Oh well. Dont think there is anything I can do
