Power runs through the amp until you turn the radio off completly. Even with the volume all the way down there is still a signal being sent...thats what you hear. I had that question whenI bought the car...and thats the answer they told me. Hope this helps.

Ya this helps. Thanks for the info, I guess I will just leave well enough alone. I do not need the dealer taking everything apart for no reason.
