Why the Shaker system won't hide the factory scoop holes
I can't find the thread (s) about this but people with hood scoopsshould book mark this, if they want to go with a Shaker hood.
The bad news is that you need a new Hood (or good used one).
See the arrows on the pics, it shows the holes that are past the squarehole opening of the shaker. The under brace has a provision hole for a socket to get through,to those nuts.

RE: Why the Shaker system won't hide the factory scoop holes
Here are two pics of the underside of my hood. I have the GT appearance package scoop from the factory.
There are four screws holding the scoop on, and the three pegs are for the honeycomb scoop grill. I'm sure there is some double sided tape under the scoop too. But from what I can see, a Shaker scoop cutout would completely remove my existing holes. Am I wrong?

Hmmm...it could be that the other screws are hidden by the heat shield. I'll have to take the shield off one day to verify. That stinks! Oh well, the Shaker is overpriced anyway.

Yes, unfortunatly.
There are 2 holes underneath your insulation, towards the bottom on that brace.
Look at my picture, when you'll see your hood brace, it'll become clear to you.

Yeah, I see.
BUT......... how big of a problem is two holes in the rear??? I'm sure our modding geniuses can find some cool looking molding to bolt or rivet on back there and not destroy the cool look of the Shaker.

I think we need a good <<<BUMP>>>
I'd like to know what kind of cool things we could use to cover the holes left from our factory hood scoops should we decide to Shake it.
Any ideas?
Come on, Bluestar.....you've got to have a smiley for us atleast...

There are about 12 holes if I remember right. (I have an 07). I can't remember how many fall within shaker range. I do remember though, when I traded in my factory scoop hood for a non-scoop the NewtakeOff guy said: "so, are you putting in a shaker." So, I guess it's been done before.

Ther are 2 ways I see to fix this...
One, is to put vinyl stripes over the holes (cheap fix)
The second would be to TIG weld those holes and do minor body work. The trick is to use heat absobtion pads around themto avoid deformation and I would do this before cutting the Shaker hole.

I was thinking more of bolting on some type of molding there. Or, if nothing else, use some decorative, smooth head bolts and small rubber washers to just plug the holes. Maybe two extra wiper spray nozzles. Just something to plug the holes but not detract from the car's looks.
