RE: Gears
I have 2 sets of Ford , 3:55s if anyone wants them, you pay the shipping. One is from my 06 mustang and one from my 06 F-150 both have less than 500 miles on them. I put 4.30s in both vehicels, makes a big difference with Autos.

RE: Gears
I have 4.10's too and still use 1st -- never even considered starting in 2nd -- I'll try it though just to see the difference.

Don't need it with 4.10's

Is there a reason?

RE: Gears
I worked up a gear comparison on my computer (I had to converted it to a text file as this forum would not let me upload an Excel file) . It is assuming that you have 27" tall tires.
I am going to get 3.73s for my manual car because I want to cruise between 2000 and 2500 rpms (Note: I will never go to the track, this is a daily driver). 65mph is over 2000 rpms getting me out of the dreaded drone range while 80mph is less than 2500 rpms keeping the engine roar down at cruise and preserving some MPG (I do a lot of highway driving).
Enjoy...

RE: Gears
My friend, this has been talked about countless amount of times and dont get me wrong, Im not bashing on you. I even asked some of these questions a while back. But dont fear the 4.10's. Coupled with CAI + tune, your car will be a whole new beast, and it is very every day street driveable. I had 4.10's in my old Fox body 5.0 and I just about had to start in 2nd, but not with the new gen's we have. You wont be sorry. The fun it brings, the power you feel, and the grin on your face will be woth the 300-500 rpm loss youll experience. It really is nothing and besides if we were all so concerned about MPG, we would have bought a PRIUS. I heard they have a cool forum

RE: Gears
Why would I want to drive a Prius? I enjoy my 57 mile commute (one way) to work every day drivin' the stang. I spend 90% of the trip between 80 and 90 mph. I really don't want to hear the engine turning 3 grand for nearly an hour each way.
Now if I were to take her to the track often, then I would definitly have 4.10s!
