Default Stock headlamps removal?

Hey guys....

I'm thinking of replacing the stock headlamps with an aftermarket, projector type ones. There are plenty of them on the market. My question is, how difficult and what is involved with removing the stock headlamps and installing the new ones? Can you get to the assembly without ripping the bumper cover and grill off? I know it can be done, but can a newbie with simple tools do it in the garage, or would I be better off going to an installer/body shop?? Thanks !

i think this is something you can do
yourself....

even if you did have to remove the bumper
cover, it's not difficult (time consuming and
annoying yes)...

You can loosen the bumper from each side to replace each headlight one at a time. The top plastic radiator cover needs to be removed. On the small plastic clips, pull the round center part up first b4 removing the entire clip (otherwise it'll break). The nuts holding the bumper near the wheelwell are easiest to access if you unclip the inner wheelwell first. There are 3 nuts holding the headlight in place. It is not very complicated.

It's easy and no time at all -- drop the bumper as it makes things easier ... I think (can't remember off hand) there are 2 bolts each head lamp // then when you reinstall the bumper there are tabs that go under the Projector headlamp (one each side).

Well, since I just convert my front bumper (today)to the more agressive lookingGT500, my visual memory is still fresh.
You have 2 bolts on the bottom ofeach head light. They are the ones that make you drop the bumper so you can get to them.
You have one on the top and it's easy.

For the bumper, you'll have to losen the fender liner where it meets the fender. You'll see 2 10mm on each side... Take them off and the one on the top by the grille. All the clips on the bottom have to go too, then slide the bumper off.

Advice: If you're alone doing this when you reinstall, tape the edge of your fenders where it touches the bumper so nothing gets scratch.

Good luck.
