was it cold, gas struts are not as strong when they are cold.

They're abviously designed for the Alu. stock hood.
The fiberglass oneis about 40% heavier.

Go to Pepboys or alike with your struts and match them up with a higher rating.
Easy fix.

I've got the CDCs on a Trufiber GTS-2 fiberglass hood and they do a great job. Hood lifts easy and holds in a pretty stiff wind. It's windy here in SoCal this morning and I haven't had any problems.
