New Grill and Rear Blackout- Help
Hello to all, I am new to the forum, bought a 05 V6 Mustang Convertible in light blue for my wife when they first came out, love the car (did have a few
probs with the top but the dealer finally replaced it). I also had a 73 vette I sold to buy another new car, bored with the other car so i have convinced
her to trade with me so I have a hobby :--) Thats my story and i am sticking to it. So I am thinking about some mods I would like some
advice from the forum experts:
1. Want to buy a new grill with foglamps. Have seen several: ones like the GT stock from T2, mid spaced ones from blueoval and ones together like
Eleanor in the center from streetscene. Prices range from $300 to almost $500 dollars with lights, switch and harness. I am looking for
some real life installation experiences, what fits best could help me determine what i like best......for example the T2 ones require you
to lower the fan cowl. Please let me know what you have experienced and would recommend.
2. I am looking at rear blackout panels (between the taillights). I first thought the magnetic one was good but saw a horror story on the forum.
Then looked into the decal and saw stories of ripping, bubbling, etc. Then saw panels (honeycombed and not) that stuck with double sided
tape....these can run up to $200. Unsure what would happen to the paint if they were taken off. I would consider black paint but I really want
something I could remove one day without ever knowing it was there. Any input and recommendations here?
Thanks in advance to all............

RE: New Grill and Rear Blackout- Help
Welcome - I don't have any experience with aftermarket grilles that retain the fogs - the one I have is the CDC billet that deletes the fogs..
As to the second question, I've got the CDC that attaches with 3M adhesive tape - if installed correctly, cleaning well first and using adhesion promoter at the proper ambient temerature, they'll stick like heck.. but to remove any accessory that's attached to the body like that you don't just rip it off (if you even could), you actually cut through the 3M tape with some fishing line, then clean up residue with some goo-gone.
So it's a "permament" installation, but reversible if done right without any risk to the paint.

As far as the grill goes, I'd recommend simply replacing the bumper.
And for a blackout, the decals your best bet. If you don't feel confident have a shop put it on, but I did all my own vinyl work and it's all holding up great. The only way its gonna rip and bubble is if you don't know what your doing to begin with.

RE: New Grill and Rear Blackout- Help
Hey there,
One of the supporting vendors here. You will get a LOT of opinions with those questions - there are many options available. Just need to decide whats right for you.
We have the Street Scene V6 center mount fog light grille (pictured below) on sale right now for $249.95. Sell a fair number of these and have never had a complaint.
As for the black out panel - we have the the Street Scene blackout panel (pictured below). Nice clean look - made from injection molded plastic - goes on with 3M Double Sided Tape. On sale right now at $74.95
Not sure how much longer this will last, but until at least the end of the year we are offering free shipping (there is a $9.95 Insurance and Handling fee).
Feel free to give me a call (866-278-8287 x134) or shoot me an E-Mail (PNicholson@Stillen.com) if there is anything I can do to help.
Thanks

RE: New Grill and Rear Blackout- Help
Thanks for the input, a help. Definately will stay away from any force fitting of a GT grill into the v6.....and I
really am considering the 3m decal for the rear, patience on install day. I have acquired a set of 17 inch wheels
to replace my stock v6 sixteen inch wheels, has anyone found a way to mount the v6 spinners to the center of the GT
aluminum 17inch wheels?
