I have been making vinyl pony decals for leather headrests. They seem to work just fine. I haven't had any one complain. If you ever want to sell your car, then you can just take them off.

I have been selling them for over a year now and I have had maybe 1 or 2 people say they are peeling. I replaced them for free and haven't had any other problems since. Here is a pic.

There used to be a guy online who did incredible embroidery work on headrests. Did it really cheap as well, something like $70 a set.
I was all set to send mine to him and the powers that be had him shut down for copyright infringment.
Not that this helps you but I felt it was worth mentioning.
