Default When changing your oil, this is what not to do!!

So I gave myself the WTF you idiot award for bigtime stupidity yesterday.
I was in a hurry when I changed my oil and pulled off the old oil filter not realizing that the gasket stayed on the block.
I cranked the new filter down, filled the engine with oil and fired it up.

I looked under the car, sweet no leaks, I went to the rear of the car and started cleaning up tools and stuff.
I then heard a loud squeal, when I looked up smoke was pouring out of the engine compartment.
Ishut her down and looked under the car, you guessed it oil spewing outall over the place from the oil filter gasket. [:@]
4 1/2 quarts of Mobil 1 everywhere. [:@]
Everything is ok I just hate doing stupid **** like that. [:'(][:@]

The old lesson is true, when you get into a hurry you are bound to hose something up. [8D]

I always wondered why Taco Bill did a write up on oil changes. Now I know!! :-) Hey, I have to give a little crap to my fellow Windveil Blue owner!

Ya I did, the bad thing is I have been changing my oil for 30 years and I know better, LOL.
It was just a bone headded move and thankfully it wasn't worse.

Wow - quite a mess! Glad you caught it right away! I bet the engine was a bear to clean up.

What you are not supposed to put red locktite on the drain plug? [8D]

That is funny it is dark looking, it must just be the lighting and the fact it is on the floor, it was brand new oil.

Clean up of the floor and car was a major pain.
I wiped the car down as best asI could and then took it to the spray wash.
I sprayed the engine comparment down and then ran it through the touchless wash to get the undercarrage spray.
