Front License Plate Mounting

RE: Front License Plate Mounting
I'm in NY. We are required to have front plates. My salesman asked me where I would like the front plate mounted. I was like huh? He said "Would you like us to drill holes in the front bumper for you, or would you like it mounted in the back seat?"
It's in the back seat. That was in March, and I haven't gotten a ticket yet. *crossing fingers*
It's a $65 ticket in NYS (last time I got one anyway - old car).

How do you manage to drill the holes crooked when there are 2 dimples in the bumper to locate the holes? Are the dealers at least putting the proper bracket on the front or are the still just hanging the plate by the 2 top holes. I got the right ford bracket for the car and while it is not pretty it looke like it belongs there & keeps the plate from getting bent with my cover.

RE: Front License Plate Mounting
I was back at the dealer where I got my car last Friday and decided to look around to see if the other stangs on the lot had the front license plate already installed on them drilled into the bumper. ALL of them had it, including the Shelby's!!! Guess I'm not that special having them put holes in my poor bumper.

Sadly most dealers in CA will do it unless you tell them not to up front. I specifically asked them not to touch my car when I picked it up. (I ordered mine from Roush late 04 and it was delivered to Fairview Ford)
IMO, front plates on the stang just don't belong.
I drive my beast a lot and have never been hassled for not having the plate even when I've been pulled over for something.
I am older though - it may be different for younger folks??? I don't know - and anyone who knows my car personally will tell you it's loud as sin and I've never been hassled for that either.
