fairly easy, just make sure they come with a decent set of clamps.

Yeah, the clamps that came with mine were junk. I went and bought a couple of $1.99 clamps from manny, moe and jack and they were much better (actually tightened all the way and sealed). I ultimately opted to have them welded though. And yes, the top hangers can be a pain in the knuckles but you can't go wrong if you follow tacobill's advice.

I doubt the tips would have any major effect on the sound...
Its an easy DIY install if you're inclined, otherwise the muffler shop will be able to fix you up very fast. The benefit of taking it in is they have the tools to be able to bend the hangars if necessary to even everything out. You may or may not have a problem with this. I had to finegle my SLPs into hanging evenly which took quite a bit of time and some creative use of the various holes in the hangers.

Easy as pie. If you use the included clamps, make sure you have a DEEP socket set (I used a 15mm if I remember), makes it much easier. Also, to tighten them, if you look at them, each clamp looks like two rings. Well place one ring on the muffler pipe and the other on the exhaust pipe and then tighten. This is the best way, with the inlcluded crappy clamps, that i could get my flows to be snug tight and not rattle.
Once you install it, start it up, let it cool down, then rev it somewhere above 3k and listen closely. If you hear a rattle, turn it off and get down under there and tighten it again. You wont have this problem if you get some better clamps (like U clamps) or unless Flowmaster made better clamps since I bought mine.
If your tips look like they are not aligned, loosen the clamp, and lift/twist/pull whatever the muffler until its inplace, then HOLD IT, then tighten it.
Hope this helps!

I would definitely try them yourself (with instructions) even if you have never done any work on a car before. It will give you a reason to learn a little about your car. Just remember righty tighty, lefty loosy

I agree with most; piece of cake. One tip: raise the rear end 4 or 5 inches ( I backed up on a couple of two by fours). The more room under there the better.
