when I bought my 06, I put my chrome '04 9" wheels and 245/45/17s on it. What a mistake! They stuck out a good inch front and back and had a huge space between tire and fenderwell. Had to take 'em off and reorder '06 9"wheels which I stuck the stock 235/55 pirellis on. Looks great.

I have a hard time believing that you had the proper offset on your wheels because I have read a few times about people installing the last gen wheels on the s197's without problems. Sticking out an inch seems way to much for me. The offset differs by around 1.5 cm I believe. I looked at a set of 18x9 wheels for the 94-04 and the offset was +24 and I looked at the offset for the 05-07 and the offset was +38, unless my math is off that shouldn't be too much (please correct me if I am wrong).

And secondly, the tire size you had is wrong for the car, the sidewall is too small. I'm going with 255/25-18 for the 18x9's on the front which would mean your 245/45-17 tires on the 17's were too small to begin with.

I think those are the right size tires..

Before this car I had a 2000 that I bought 17" Bullitts for. They came with 245/35/17 yokohamas (chokeyourmamas) and when I went to replace one they were impossible to find. Everybody told me the right size tire for that was 245/45.

I'm saying those are the proper tires for the sn95 and new edge but they are too small for our s197's with a larger wheel well.

255/25-18? I hope this is a typo. That tire is more than 3 inches shorter that a factory tire. The 245/45-17 is more than 2 inches shorter than stock but it's closer! If you put 255/25-18's on that car it's going to look like it's on shopping cart wheels. I run 245/45-19's and they are just a hair short, I'll be going to 245/45-19's or 255/40-19's next time. If you don't know what the numbers mean there are tire size calculator's all over the net. Might save you some money and hassle.
