I would go for the 500 while the dollar is good. You might regret it in a couple of years. You also have to consider the money you will lose on your GT. I live in Ontario and if you by in Michigan and have it delivered to the Canadian side of the border you do not pay the Michigan sales tax. Hope this helps.

Crunched the number's, I will be burning money. $55,000 for the GT500, plus tax etc puts it at 60K. Add to that the cost of my wheels and brakes is $70K. Money lost on the GT and ROUSH parts is $8000..........so I'm at a total of 80K roughly. If I boost the GT, including all my parts, I am at 52K.........a 28K savings which can be used for anything other then a car.

Brembo brakes = $4000 after duty, shipping etc.
Wheels/tires = $4000 after duty etc.
Roush parts = approx $2500 for LCA's, suspension package, strut tower brace.....plus the $5000 loss on the stang when re selling.
Thats how I crunched the numbers. I rounded up to include the 8% financing I would have to deal with if buying across border.

I am a fan of the GT 500 so I would get the GT 500 (for a number of reasons)no doubt.
If you don'tand you want to boost your GTI would pick up a forge short block from Livernois or soemone else(around $3800) throw on aWhipple (15/16 psi)and you will have solid mid 10second car.
Which wouldhave enough power tokill stock C6 Z06's and C6's no problem.

Reaming? Nope, I buy US.
I don't know if you've seen my Brembo's..........6 piston kit for $2999. No idea where you got 4 pot Brembo's for $1500, I can't even find them for that in the US. Lethal has them for 3K.
Saleen wheels are not cheap. Retail for $3000 with tires.

Why couldn't you just buy the motor and transmission out of the GT500 and do a swap? Probably be about the difference and your car would be almost like a sleeper because everyone would think it was a regular GT...but you have a S/C GT500 engine and a 6-speed
