what is the sensor that plugs in the valve coverrubb
I was looking at a pair of valve covers the other day and noticed an offset black rubber ring. When I looked at some cars it appears a sensor gets plugged into it. There is a tube coming out of each of the valve covers which I assume are vent tubes. Is that correct. Also inside the cover there is a tray (oil baffle perhaps) that is attached to the top and the driver’s side PVC tube feeds into this tray. I’m not sure what all this does. I have a buddy that wants me to fabricate a pair of old school valve covers for him but I can’t find any place that sells the gasket, or the offset rubber ring for the sensor. Also can the car function without the tray on the inside and why would the one tube feed into the tray.

RE: what is the sensor that plugs in the valve coverrubb
The vent tubes are to relieve the crankcase pressure. They run into the intake tract through one way valves.
Not 100% sure about thebaffle plate.most likely thing is to protect the ventlines from sucking in oil splatter.
Everything on the car is available through Ford, you just have to find the part number...
