Default Painted wheels

Anybody here had your wheels painted a different color? How much did it cost and how did it work out for you? Or if you painted them yourself, what kind of paint did you use, and how did that work out?

I'm happy with my stock 17" bullitts except for the color, and I don't want to go throught hassle of dealing with the TPMS sensors.

I did it. I ended up buying a new set of wheels. LOL. I had the stock 17" wheels and tried to tape off the middle so they'd look exactly like the wheels on the Shelby GT. It's too damn hard to tape it off perfectly. If you're not a perfectionist, than it's fine and looks great. I sanded the wheels with 320. Two coats of Primer. I used the spray Black caliper paint. There is also a wheel paint but it comes with the crappy spray nozzle, not like the one on the caliper paint, and it also comes out kind of rough. I tested it and it didn't come out very glossy either, even with the clear they make for it. So just use the caliper paint.

i have the basic wheels on my 05 v6 with spinners and i masked off the centers and outer ring to paint the gray areas black...made the aluminum stand out waaay better...dunno how it'd work out with the bullits since there's a lot more to paint and be exposed, but i sandd, primed, then 2 coats of gloss black spray paint and 2 coats of clear coat...and that was it...i've been on a couple gravel roads and driven about 10K since done and don't think i have any chips or scratches.

I had a set of Audi wheels painted at a bodyshop. I think I paid around $50. I preped them myself, and they just painted. It worked well. They turned out well. I would not recommend trying to paint them yourself with aerosol paint. It is hard to get good shine and coverage (and it makes it harder when you decide to have them painted by a professional).

you could also take your center caps off when painting them.
