I have burnt my clutch beforeand it fu8ing smelled horrible. Don't worry you need to do this more often. That's what it was made for. It could have been your *** that caught on fire!

yeah i agree with everyone else... it was probably just your clutch. you were probably just hypersensitive after racing someone for the first time and I'm sure anything just a little out of the ordinary and you would've picked up on it out of worry. the rev limiter kicked in because you didn't shift in time and i'm sure once that happened you probably freaked a little and threw it into the next gear and in doing sojust rode your clutch a little bit (don't worry it happens). i'm sure all is fine as thesecars are builtfor that kind of stuff ha ha.now for the real question, what about that z...????

Clutch, brakes, and oil would be the three most applicable in this case. After what you described in hitting the rev limiter, it is most likely the clutch. In this case, do not sweat it, no big deal at all.

HItting the rev limiter is what I use to do all the time before I went to a brenspeed tune. Now at 53,000 thousand plus I'm still acting a fool and it still runs great I just get bigger paint chips than most. That clutch will smell for quite a while. You did burn the clutch because I have done this trick too . It will take a while before the smell leaves.

These cars are made for a little rpm push every once in a while as long as you don't abuse it. You just broke in your right foot!

"I still smell it (on me)! "

Based on the above comment, I'd check inside my pants....it's quite possible hitting the Rev Limiter caused an internal combustion, it will look something like this....

Thanks for the great responses.

What does the clutch smell like? (if you could descibe it...) The smell was coming from the engine area (or so it seemed...)

The guy in the the 350Z was very cool - I gave him the "thumbs up" but he had tinted windows so hard to tell his response - all seemed friendly though - Just couldn't help it when I definitely heard him "gun" on me. It was a curve area and I felt it! - Getting out of control a bit - not a straight thing...

Never Again! Just hoping that smell doesn't mean I did any damage.

Sorry - This just never happened to me before [8D]
