Just curious, does axle whine actually sound like its coming from in back from the axle?

And since I have your attention... is really a higher tone sound, like a whine, or is that just a name for it?

Yes it does. it's also most noticeable after a drive of more than 15 or so minutes and with slow cornering, like in a parking lot. I had mine fixed under warranty. They had to replace the clutch packs in the rear diff.

I had the same thing done..............drive it hard for 20 minutes and roll the windows down, now make some sharp turns through a parking lot. You should hear the whine coming from behind you. They replace the clutch pack in the diff.and add synthetic fluid
