its a collectors car. where does the Enzo's price tag come from? I dont think the car itself costs 997,000 and they take a 3grand markup. [8D]
Yeah but - come on - do you really think a Saleen mustang is in the same league? If it's just about production numbers, then hell that one (I forgot exactly) charcoal grey with weird interior or whatever where there was only a couple produced should be worth 200K????? I don't think so. If you make 25 pieces of crap then it still crap no matter how limited it was???

(now I'm NOT saying the saleen is crap so don't go crazy - I'm using that analogy to illustrate that limited edition doesn't really mean a lot IMO)

The sad part is if the manufacturers (including Ford) spent half as much timing improving the S197 as they did thinking of 'limited production spinoffs' - hell we may have a bad **** GM killer right from the factory...[8D]

I wouldn't pay over $80k for a GT500 either, but someone does. I would rather have that Saleen, than the GT500. It has more horses under the hood anyway. At least they treat you to a trip to go see it before it's delivered. If you send a GT500 to shelby to have it turned into a super snake, you will dish out more than $100k, and not have any more performance.

There's no replacement for displacement. You could probably go a little over with that motor in the Saleen but the block is pretty maxed out. No way, I'd much rather have the 330ci of the GT500. Hell you could use darton sleeves and rebuild the GT500 to 360+ cubic inches.....

Easily for 65K (TOPS for everything - including the base car) any S197 could be a 360ci 1000 hp monster

Don't they make a 750hp Super Snake?
Anyway, if I was to pay up the @ss for a Mustang, which means paying for a name, I'll go with Shelby.
The collector aspect will always have more weight than any other names.
Especially once Carroll Shelby checks out.
