almost bought my first mustang
I saw on Carmax that they had a 2006 Ford Mustang GT w/ 6k miles for like $22,000. Went to carmax to check it out. I love it and almost bought it, but figured I better wait on it, cuz w/ the lil down payment I would of gave my monthly payment would of been like $450 a month. Witch I can afford, but I figured ill save up about $7,500 for a down payment and go back in 3 months and buy it. Just to make sure I have enough but I have a funny feeling in my stomache like I should of bought it. I could try to sell my car for like $6,000 and just give 5,000 for my down payment, cuz that will bring the payment down to like 375 a month what do yall think?

If any part of you is telling you that you need to wait, then you probably should. You'll be glad you waited when you don't have to worry about a repo man from month to month.

I did go to a Ford dealership, but there prices were crazy they wanted 21,000 for a 05 mustang GT that had like 67k miles.

Do your homework before you go shopping. That is what it is worth retail.

I disagree about carmax sucking. I bought mine there (06 GTpremiumwith 15k) and paid $21499. I bought it halfway through the 07 model year and saved about $7500off ofwhat new one would have cost.Another bonus is that it was configured exactly as I wanted. The one I went to had 9 S197s to choose from and were each configured differently and represented a good cross-section of what's out there. And they were all IMMACULATE, mine even still smelled new and had absolutely zero wrong with it.Another nice thing was that if they hadn't had what I was looking for there, they would have had one shipped in from another lot (for a small fee). I looked at every dealer in a 100 mile radius (about 30 total, Ford and other) and nobody even had anything close to what I wanted. The ones they did have generally were either way over-priced or had a ton of miles or both. Thebuying processwas the easiest I've ever had, no pressure whatsoever. And don't even get me started on the customer service...

You should consider buying a new 08 or leftover 07 under X-plan (you can get a pin from someone who can get cars at X-plan, it works for "friends and family") You might get close to that price.
Since you're spending some time saving, which is very smart btw, you have more time to shop around and do some research.
