RE: 28 MPG!! Are you f'n kidding me!??!!?!?
I have 36K on my 07 GT VERT 5sp w/ 3:31's and the lowest mpg's to date are 22. The highest was 32 but it was painful to go 55 mph for 40 miles. I average 27 mpg as I drive 55 miles one way to work at 62mph. I do notice a slight drop when the top is down. The car is stock except for shaker hood and GTA's. For those out there that say BS all I can say is you should be getting 50 mpg as you seem to have your foot in your mouth rather than on the gas.

Are you guys relying onthe info center from your dash?
Because it's way off on my car[&:].
I do the numbers when I refill.
That 32mpg is surrealistic with my car, even at 65mph.[8D]24 is the most I get.
Anyway, if I want performance and gas mileage combined, I'll by a fastmotorcycle.
But then again, I will loose my license.

At the pump and computer are very close.

I'll wink at that.

lol...I currently own a Focus ZX3 and a Mustang GT and there is no way in hell they get close to the same gas mileage. I live in Dallas Texas where it is extremely flat and like I said...there is NO WAY they get anywhere close to the same...lol

I get about 18 mpg in the city... I would sure love to get better gas mileage, but I bought the car to have fun in and saving a few pennies on gas I cannot justify. Kudos to those of you with the self discipline to drive like grannies and set the cruise at 55 mph. Maybe when I'm old I'll do the same.

I miss this one completely. You pay $26K for a V8 GT, and then worry about the mileage? You could have bought a Focus, for half the price and achieved even higher MPG. BTW, I don't believe for one second that a 4.6 GT can achieve 27 MPG during everyday driving. Besides, the fact that it requires fuel to manufacture horsepower, the idea that one can actually consistantly operate the throttle without "letting her loose" a few times a tank full is inconcievable. Then again, BS is what makes the world go round.

It's worth pointing out that in real world driving the GT gets almost the same as the V6. It's been like this for years. My brother had a 2003 V6 and traded it for a 2000 GT. His mileage barely changed.
There's only 1 mpg seperating the new EPA mileage rating between a V6 auto and a GT auto (the two most common models). A lightly used GT is about the same as a V6 Mustang, really. The best reason to go with a V6 is lower insurance, gas mileage is really pretty close.
I'd say 25 or 26 mpg is realistic for a stock GT driven with almost all highway mileage. You'll never see that in mixed driving. Still it's pretty decent, especially compared to a truck or an SUV. Not all performance cars get bad gas mileage. My friend's C6 Corvette will easily get 30 mpg on the highway and it's an automatic.
