Feels like a flat?
Need some help. In the mornings when I first drive it feels like I have a flat in the rear drivers side wheel. I have gotten out quite a few times to check and no flat whatsoever. After a couple of miles though it stops feeling that way and goes back to what I believe is normal. It is not so bad when the weather is warmer but in the last few weeks its been colder here and it is really bad. Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this. I was going to call the dealer to have them check it out but I have heard that they would need to replicate the problem. After all the horror stories I read about dealerships I don't have a warm and fuzzy about leaving it over night so they can take it for a spin the following morning. I live in South Carolina so its not like its really cold here but it does drop into the 20's sometimes at night.

RE: Feels like a flat?
Sounds like what is refered to as "flatspotting" to me. Happens to some tired lines when they sit for longer periods of time (overnite).
It is worse in colder weather. Once they warm up it will go away. There is probably nothing really wrong with the your tires, they are just a little uncomfortable for the first few miles. Shawn |
RE: Feels like a flat?
Probably your emergency brake freezing up and sticking. There are several posts on this and I believe a TSB as well. I know most dealers stink, but I'd take it there since it's under warrenty.

RE: Feels like a flat?
Stock Pirelli's tend to flat spot when sitting for a while, takes a few miles for it to go away. Mine do the same, some people will say their's don't do it but I've seen a few threads with other people saying the same about the Pirelli's.

RE: Feels like a flat?
+1 flat spot...especially if it's been sitting for a few days at a time. Try pumping up the psi a bit and if that doesn't work try the e-brake.

RE: Feels like a flat?
After sitting in a 60 degree garage all night and then sitting in sub-zero temps all day, my pirellis feel like I'm driving over a cattle-guard for the first 2 or 3 miles(for those of you that don't know what that is...)

RE: Feels like a flat?
Thanks for everyone's input. Now I don't feel so bad, I'll try adding some more air and see if that works. Again thanks for the help.

RE: Feels like a flat?
Yeah, it's a flat spot.
My truck does it if parked more than one day. Typically, every Mondays:D. |

RE: Feels like a flat?
+10 on the flat spot. As the tire warms up and rolls it rounds out. It's more prevelant in the colder weather.
