A tune can also address shift points.
I say just sit in the car and mash the pedal, don't be pissing around second guessing the technology.
There was somebody on here who did a bunch of testing to see if he could improve on the auto shift at the track. I think he beat the auto once in a bunch of attempts, so what's the point?

You bought the Auto because of [insert reason here] so live with it and be happy.

Pretending to have a manual? What's that about? Is that like wearing a dress and pretending you're not gay ? [8D] Only Ragging on yer

So I could drive and eat french fries at the same time. We gotta 1-2-3 on there for a reason. If we just want to coast down a mountain slower, we hit OD off. I guess the point would be if someone wanted to manually shift the gears they could. Then when they got to McDonalds, look out french fries.

It actually works pretty well. Those cardboard FF holders just tilt up and slide the FF in your mouth. No need to get the fingers greasy. I don't even know how to work a cell phone. Wife does all that.

One thing that it seems we all agree on. When it comes to WOT
shifting..leave it in drive and you'll beat the manuals all friggin day.

The guys with manualsalways give us guys with autos crap. They're jealous
because we CAN drive our autos manually and when it comes to WOT shifts
we out-shift 'em everytime. What now....

They are quick to tell us about the parasitic power lose through the TC as well. I'm tired of shifting manuals. Did it for 35 years. Never again. My left leg is stronger than my right one though.

thanks for all of the INFORMATIVE replies!

Lemme ask you this:
If starting in 2nd is a no-no, than coming to a complete stop in second would conceivably be a no-no also, right? Whats the prime mph to shift into first? Also, when decelerating, from lets say third gear, would it be possible for me to miss 2nd and shift right into 1st, harming the tranny?

I have no idea why you would want to downshift like that. But coming to a stop in second won't do anything.

I don't think I ever shifted into first while stopping in a stick.. (just put it in neutral).. so I'm not sure why you would force your car to do it in an auto. You would have to be going pretty slow for it to not jerk. First is for taking off.. not stopping.

Hey Grandpa, the only time a manual sucks, would be in bumper to bumper traffic.
Rest of the time, more fun for us.
And let's not, talk about going steepdown hill with an auto[8D].
