The 17*10.5" wheel question answered (w/pics)
I installed a set of 17x10.5 bullitts from a 1999-2004 on to my 2006 GT. There is only one available 9.5" or wider 17 available for the S197. They tires are insane as far as grip goes but I feel like Joe Dirt driving around. They stick out way too much.
Gene K turned me on to the Raceline GT's. I will be ordering them this week. I might keep these for track duty.

They look good. Nice color by the way...but I dont care for them to stick out that much. Did you get them all the way around or did you keep the stock front ones?

Those tires look like the NITTO 555's. I am running NITTO 555's on my 07 GT. They are the NITTO 555 285/40/18 and in the front NITTO 555 255/45/18. This is the size of tires that are come on the GT500 off the lot. But not the same brand tire, just the size. What is the exact size of the tire in question on your 2006 GT on the rear? I can send you pic's of my set up if you would like to see how they fit. Hope this gives you some information in comparing tire size.

I bought them from AmericanMuscle.com .
The fronts are the stock Bullitts. The spokes are flatter than the one I replaced them with so I did order a set of 17x9's for the front. I did not install them because I wanted to be sure I was happy with the rear (which I am not).
I haven't "warmed" them up yet but I am sure they will dirty up the rear fenders. I raced a friend who owns a 600+hp Supra Turbo and beat him from a dig. He killed me from a roll as I am auto trans. I am looking forward to getting them on the track.

The tires are 295/45/17 Mickey Thompson. They require a minimum of a 9.5" wide rim. I am told I could stuff them on to 9's but would loose sidewall rigidity.
