Default Calipers... Clear Coat.. wtfffffff ....

ok guys.. repainting my calipers from the duplicolor red kit to just 500 degree engine paint.. same exact paint that the caliper paint is, 500 degrees, ceramic, etc.. but this time im painting them to match.. and the match is like.. almost exact.. im suprised... but im sick of the red... too flashy for the car.. the dark grey will look awesome..

but i am doing spray this time instead of brush on.. and done about 5 coats, and then just sprayed a coat of clear of the 500 degree engine paint, and it went on like... white.. i was like..wtf... so im gunna go check it after i post this.. it will have been about 15 mins.. if it didnt dry clear, im just gunna paint a few coast over it, and then say screw the clear...

i will get pics up

clear just about always comes out a little cloudy. it should dry to be clear with a thin coat. too thick of coat and it can remain cloudy.

I've found that cold damp days the clear will be cloudy & stays cloudy. I try to pick a clear warm day to paint.

k, i decided to just forget using clear coat..hopefully this time it wont start chipping/peeling.. if it does.. whatever..ill do it again and takemy time with the clear..

looks sooo much better tho.. just waiting for the fronts to dry, and then throw the wheels back on and call it a night.. a long one.. look alot better tho..no so much flashy-ness IMO...

G2 caliper paint.... doesn't chip/fall off like Duplicolor, lasts a long time and stands up to most mild wheel cleaners. It's also available in factory colors if you want to match your body color.

Clear Coat ??? On your calipers ???

That sounds kinda knarly

What about cleaning them? will you have to wax them too?

Can you do clear coat over vinyl?
