Original 2005 owners out there?
The first year of every new model is bound to have some problems right? My '05 will reach the 3 year anniversary on 5/4/08, and with that the expiration of my bumper to bumper warranty. Only problem I had was the seat release ***** breaking. Anything I should be looking out for?
Thinking back to when the S197 hit the streets.Dealers laughed when I asked if they had a GT on the lot. They laughed even louder when I asked if they had a convertible. I special ordered my car in Feb of 2005, sight unseen, having only test drove a V6 5-speed coupe. It was tough waiting three long months, bu I had to have this car. When I picked it up, felt like a queen. At the time, the car was rare. I would have dreams that I blinked and someone stole it and I could not get it replaced. Getting a bit nastalgic.[X(] Never been this attached to a car.

Nothing big to report yet. I'm at 43000 on my 8/04 build date '05.
As long as you already got the new gas tank and go the fuel pump problem fixed. Oh yeah and I never got my seat **** fixed.

I got mine on 8-19-05
just passed 7000 miles
Local dealer didn't get any Mustangs until August of 05
and then they only got 6 of them, 1 a GT and it was spoken for before me.
The omly problem I had was a dead battey.
And last week I noticed a hole wearing in the shift boot, probably from something wearing against
between 1st & 2nd gear shift.
I will wait till July and see if any thing else needs replacing & take it in.
Never had the fuel fill problem.

Hard to believe the S197 is in it's fourth model year. I purchased mine on 09/03/2005 and I have been having fun with it since day one. I have had the same symptoms that many others have experienced: the dreaded front suspension chuckle, fuel fill problems and rear differential groan.
Thanks to grampa_stang, I discovered the suspension noise was a loose endlink, which was solved with a turn of a wrench. The fuel fill issue was a mystery because I had the car for a year before it started acting up, and then all of a sudden, for the next six months I struggled with every nozzle I tried. But the last two years, it's been filling smooth without any problems. The rear end was addressed with the TSB, which replaced the clutch pack and it's been a 90% improvement. The only thing I hear now is a creaking sound when I turn right onto driveways. I can live with that.
This one is a keeper. The first time I saw the concept, I knew I was going to own this car. If I am lucky enough one day to have kids of my own, I envision them driving it to high school and college. Fast forward to 2026 and you're the only kid in your school driving a 2005 Mustang in near mint condition! How cool would that be?

I saw the 05 model and it took me until 07 to get mine.
I am kinda glad I waited even though it was not my choice.
I am glad to hear that your 05 has stood the test of time.

Got mine new in July of 2005. It's been a great car. Had the r/h power lock selonoid replaced and a noisy idler pulley replaced.
My local dealer has treated me very well. When I was installing my CMCV delete plates I dropped a 10 mm socket into the valley.
I never found it. Well it dropped through a hole in back of the valley and into the clutch area and destroyed the pressure plate and bell housing.
The dealer replaced it under warranty, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!
I was pretty impressed.
I was a die hard GM fan when I bought this car. I have no regrets. I am very happy with the performance, fit and finish and overall design.
I was so impressed with the S197 that I bought a new Ranger to use as a daily driver. It also is proving to be well made and reliable.
I would absolutely buy another Ford.
