honestly the KDW's are your best bet unless you want to go to the $170 range. They are loud but if you go to any other tire in that price range then you won't get near the same preformance.

I'm currently runnning the stock 18" BFG KDW on stock fanblades. Will need to replace them soon (keeping the fanblades). Any recommendations on a tire that isn't TOO much more costly than the BFG's? Main issue I have with the BFG'sis noise, but if something else also gives other benefits (traction, looks), then great. I guessI don't want to go much more than $125 per tire. Suggestions?

I would recommend mine, but people don't usually like spending the money for those. But I've yet to find a tire that performs better better and works high speed dry and rain.
Michelin Pilotsport PS2 275-40-18 rear
265-35-18 front

As for performance, the PS2s are reputed to wear out relatively quickly, but inevery other parameter is top of the list. They also make a lowered Mustang on short sidewallsfeel like an expensive, long-legged highway rocket on the long stretches, and like a racing car on the ramps and in the twisties. But expensive. If I drove my car more than 3-400 miles per month, I'd have had second thoughts.
A note: these are the only street tires I've tried that seem to make a "burnout" worthwhile: that one rear tire that spins really did seem to grip better after a five-second warmup (vulcanized some rubber of unknown provenance to the "mudflap" on that side, too!).
