Why would anyone take their car to a shop they do not trust? If you cannot trust them with the oil filter, how can you trust them with the oil?

+1 ON DOING IT MYSELF (EASY) -- HAS THAT HAPPEN TO YOU OR SOMETHING?

Just a little hint for people getting their oil changed at a shop. Take a sharpie marker with you to the auto shop. Write the date and current mileage on your new oil filter. Next time you get your oil changed, check the date and mileage on the filter the shop removes to ensure your filter is actually being changed. New oil with old filter is a useless waste of money. Unless you know your shop is reputable, this isn't a bad idea.

It has happened to me once before. Oil filter wasn't replaced. I took it back and showed them my old date and mileage on my filter. I got another oil change WITH filter as I watched them. I always ask for bottled oil, nothing out of a dispenser.
I would do this myself, but I have psycho neighbors that call my homeowners association every time I raise my cars hood. No auto repairs in parking lots. I can't wait for their battery to die then have them ask me for a jumpstart.
