Default 18 inch fanblade tires?

Hey guys, the 18 inch fan blades reccomend a tire size of 255/45-18, is this correct?

I ask because tirerack also shows these tires as what comes standard with the fanblades from Ford:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDWS&partnum=35WR8GFTAKDWS&veh icleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=26& amp;speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_ra ting=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=(Y)&amp ;minSpeedRating=V

However, these tires are 235/50-18.

Does that mean Ford used a different tire size than is "reccomended" by the size of the wheel?

Thanks guys.

Yep! It's cheaper for Ford to put the skinnier tires on the cars.

Interesting... a good place to cut costs I suppose. Ford is rather clever when they want to be.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna swap out of my 17 inch stock wheels and get the 18' fanblades and tires.

Two questions:

1) Will the original lug nuts and installation equipment from my 17 inch stockers work for the 18 inch fanblades as well? Will the pony center caps from the 17's fit despite the size difference of the wheels?

2) How much does it cost to have these wheels put onto my car at say... discount tire or something.

Theres usually a variety of sizes recommended for a certain width. They just went with the cheapest possible imo.

Answers to your question.

Yes, the lug nuts are the same style for both wheels, also the caps are swappable.

Cost depends on if you have tpms or not.
At my shop if you want your personal tires installed on rims with no tires it would be, 5 per tire, and 13 to balance, valve stem? 3.00 ea. so about 84 bucks.

I use to swap wheels in summer/winter/drag strip, everything is compatible.

pic work? If not, heres the link http://home.comcast.net/~tribalwar/F1a.jpg

I'll already have the tires mounted and balanced on my rims when they are shipped to me so I'll just need to swap them with my current ones, at 13 per wheel I guess thats about 52 bucks (just using the prices at your shop for this case). I can afford that. Thanks for the pic btw.

As for where I got the info on what the 18 inch fan blades reccomend, I found the info at tirerack.com

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...amp;sort=Brand

I assume they are the exact same kind of OEM wheels and not simply a replica since they are from Ford Racing. Could be wrong I suppose, anyone know for sure?

Well if they are mounted and balanced and all you need to do is swap, do it yourself. 30 min job tops with factory(pos) jack and tire iron.

Or approx 20 bucks for a shop to swap

On tirerack, my optional size is listed as the 235-50-18. I would think Ford knows what they want on their OEM wheels.

Oh for real? I never swapped wheels before except one time I had to change a flat at a gas station with my old man, this will be a good time to learn then. Thankfully I got an 06 so there's no TPMS which will make it easier based on some of the threads I've read about it giving people headaches. Thanks again.

Yes, if you look up the original tire size by searching through the make and model of your car it says the original tire size is 235-50-18. However, if you look up the specific wheel on tire rack (thats the link I provided) it says a slightly different size. Either way, I'm going with the 235-50-18 stockers.
