Default Tire Pressure System in an '06

I have an '06 GT Convertible that I recently purchased used...how can I tell ifit hasa tire pressure system? I know they came standard in '07s, and I heard that some '06s have them as well....is that true? If so, how can I tell if I have it on mine?

Check owners manual, see if it is mentioned.
Check idiot lights at startup, the TMPS light is right below the brake warning light.

Does the TMPS light literally just say "TMPS", or is it a different symbol? Mine doesn't have a "TMPS" warning light, so hopefully that means I don't have it. It would make getting after market wheels MUCH easier.

No TPMS on the 05s or 06s.
I wish they had left it off the 07s and 08s.
But the govenment had to stick their big nose in
and require it on 07s and up.
Those that have it hate it and those who dont have it want it?

I don't hate mine at all- in fact, I'm extremely happy with it, since it warned me twice in the past year that I had low pressure (on two different tires), and both times the pressure was at about 25 p.s.i.

Why the heck would anybody "hate" something like that...???

Why?

Well mine, and 30% of everybody else's gives warnings all the time. It's quite nice.

Why don't you folks just take it back to the dealer and have them adusted properly?
Mine only went off twice- and both times the tires were at 25 p.s.i. instead of 32.
I'm surprised to hear that such a high percentage of those things are improperly adjusted...

The 30% figure came from my stealership, who knows if its right, but i'd believe it.

My dealership said it wasn't worth fixing cause it'd probably break again. So I pulled out my weapon of creativity and crafted this little guy;

TPMS Sensors in!

Close the top

Pressurize to 35psi - Put in trunk with spare tire

Wala. Light goes off.
