Default Replacing Shaker 500 with All New Audio System

Hey this is my first time posting. I have always read, but this is my first post! I have a 2007 V6 Mustang that I have been modding with the help of the forum. Recently I have applied moleskin for window tint and removed my V6 spoiler for a GT. I have also hardwired my Escort X50 to the fusebox. Tomorrow I will be installing a Flowmaster Axleback Exhaust and C&L Cold Air Intake with tunes from Brenspeed.

Now my next project which I will be doing is taking out all the stock speakers, door subs, amplifiers, and headunit. I will be replacing them with a 5 channel amplifier, one 12" subwoofer, 4 new speakers, and probably the Avic D3 headunit. My question is since I have never installed an amp, subwoofer, or speakers just headunits, how would I go about doing this? Do I just take out all of the stock parts and then hook the sub and speakers to the amplifier and then hook up the amplifier to the headunit or do I still have to use the stock wiring? Any help appreciated!

Don't Listen to HIM he will just take them into his bathroom and hook them up to his Toilet. Give ME all the old parts and I will put them in my Stang. OH and BTW I'll need you to come over and hook it all up for me. I'll take you to McDee's and you can have anything off the dollar menu you want. DEAL?

speaking as a 2007 owner with a former shaker 500 radio....

i ripped out all of the stuff out... (amps are in dash...left em) replaced all speakers, head unit, etc... .

I had a shop do it tho... and the sound is much better... shaker 500 is garbage, so is the 1000 when compared to a quality system....to those who are shaking in their boots for the left over parts... youre wasting your time...get a real unit like the original poster is trying to do..jm2c

I would get a shop to do it. There may be extra kits and parts you may need so it will create a lot of hassle by doing it yourself. Anyway, tell me how you like that Flowmaster. I've been looking into one but I can't decide if it will be too loud or if I will like the sound.

The Flowmaster sounds awesome. You will like it. Not too loud, but will still get you some looks when you step on it. A very good muffler for a single.

It could be a shaker 5000 and still suck. Makw sure to save and get the system you really want. Just like with the rest of the car, don't settle. I have an avic-d1 with xm and a dvd changer, replaced all the speakers with jl and have two 10's all hooked up to a 750 watt amp and it is the perfect blend of functionality, volume and quality.

Before you start join up on www.the12volt.com
This forum has some of the best installer's in the world.

I did my whole system - harder than a lot of cars due to speaker mounting locations, etc.
Are you planning on keeping both speakers in the doors?.....

Honestly the shaker does not sound bad at all. Change your head unit if you want, but I would keep the stock speakers and go with more performance stuff.

I almost wish I had. Too much engine and exhaust noise to really enjoy the benefits of a better sound system and yes my whole car is sound insulated etc.

For what it is worth, I went with Eclipse amps, MB Quart 5.75 components and 7.75 in mid bass in the front doors.
Forget the rear deck!! THose speakers are worthless back there.

Thanks for all of the opinions! It would seem that even if I hook up all of my speakers to the amplifier I would still need to hook up the headunit to a wiring harness. So what I'm gathering is that I should just buy a new headunit and leave the stock speakers and subs in. Which is fine, I'm not to picky about sound, but I would like a new headunit. But seeing as how it might be more trouble than its worth maybe I should just leave em. I wouldn't know what to do with the door subs anyways. I was just gonna take them out and put some 8" subwoofer grills over the holes. So ya I'm still uncertain, any more opinions will be greatly appreciated!

I have the Shaker 500, and I like it, the sound is clean, and the highs/lows are clear and defined...Though I am kind of waiting for any malfunctions as many have complained about, but none so far in 6 months of use.

I've had other cars in the past where i replaced systems, and alot of times I am dissapointed in the sound, but didn't want to spend any more money to fix it. I'm keeping the Shaker till something goes wrong. Also, I do listen to alot of AM talk radio throughout the day (about 70% music, 30% talk), and with aftermarket systems, AM tends to never come through well.
