Yeah, thats what I said. It probably takes all of 15 minutes MAX to do one by hand too...

If they knocked it down from the stratosphere back to reality, say $80 or so, I'd buy one, and I think more people would as well.

just taking it off and spraying it with some du-plicolor or actually taking it to a shop and having them paint it?

i'm interested in making my pony black but want to know what steps i'd have to take in order to get it done.

i know it's a very boring thread to start, but i don't remember seeing any how-to's on this. (maybe it's that easy. sorry)

thanks.
I don't know how everyone is doing it, but I do know how a few have done it, after reading the posts in this thread.

Here's the way I did it: Got a can of Krylon Semi-gloss black (Flat black was gray-looking; gloss black was plasticky looking). some alcohol, and a 1/4"-wide soft-bristle brush. Actually I already had all that stuff.

Cleaned the chrome pony thoroughly with alcohol; sprayed some of the paint into the paint can's cap; dipped the brush and painted until the pony was all covered. Waited a day; painted it again.

That was more than a year ago, and it still looks good:

Does anyone know how much they want for the rear "fake" gas cap?

I must be old fashion, but i like the chrome...To each his own, thats why i love the mustang, it looks sharp either way.

I like the look......but I need the chrome to pop out on mine, but that black on black is soooo sweet.
