In the old days, the flywheel would give up, gets crackedand thus, make a racket after a while.
I'll have that checked.

Also, check your bell housing for thighness, I've seen those getting loose (not on S197 though).
Usually the thing that you suspect the least, is your problem.

Well, I changed my tranny fluid from RP Syncromax to Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF and don't really feel much different, perhaps a little less vibrations, but mostly about the same. The RP fluid was as clean (and purple) as the day I put it in about 1 year ago. So I'm thinking there's no major damage in the transmission. I'm going to remove the belt today and see if it could be an accessory. I still think it may be in the transmission, since I can feel the gears grinding by just pushing very slightly on the shifter when in gear. It seems like whatever gear i'm in,the shifter isabout 0.010" from grinding other gears.
