How much is the average price for a paintjob?
 

I hate the color of my stang I want to change it to black or blue or something. right now its torch red. How much does a paint job cosT?

For a good paint job I would say at least 4k....I believe Pascal works/owns a body shop so you might want to ask him...

Macao can do the whole car for 500 dollars. If you paint it black I guarantee you it will look great for a week and than you will be thinking of painting your hood again. I know mine has been painted about 3 times now.

lol. Torch red was a close second to Vista Blue when I was looking at cars. Why would you paint over red?!?!?! :D

Although honestly, depending on when you got your car, it may actually be cheaper for you to trade in your car and get another one the color you want rather than get a $4000 paint job.

+1 on all of the above. Maaco will do it for $500, but you get what you pay for.

Provided all the body panels are straight and require no prep, expect somewhere in the $4k range. That's to do it right (taking off panels, etc - so that when you open a door you don't see the red paint still - you will see it with Maaco)..

Unless you do your eng compartment, door sills, area under the trunk, it will look like $^!+. Easier to trade it for the color you want.

DO NOT change the color of the car!!! It kills any value you have in it. I can almost guarantee that you would be better off trading it on one that's the color you want.

It will definitely devalue the car! I purchased a black Mustang because it looks GREAT!! 14 months later, I really wish I had another color just to make upkeep easier!!

+ 1,000! I worked a large Ford dealer for several years and cars that have had a color change take a huge hit in value. Not to mention if you were to sell it out right, most people would be very suspicious.

torch red rules! :)

this should be good for a laugh though - i was talking to my local paint shop (they do great work) and he quoted me 4 grand to just paint stripes.

i asked how much he would charge for the whole car, no stripes.

4k for stripes is outrageous.

7k for the car isn't too far out there, depending on the quality of the work, and how much prep the car requires..

A quality paint job starts at about 7. It would be far cheaper to sell and buy one in the color you like.

$7K is about right for a quality paint job if they paint the jambs, engine bay, trunk, etc. The paint on my Road Runner was $8K, but that included minor bodywork. It's just about perfect.

Whoever said it before was right - trade your 'Stang in for the color you want, it will be less expensive. Don't repaint it.

On a black car, you could leave the engine bay alone since the classic Stangs had it black... That isas far as a strech you could get with a color swap.

And MAACO... Please guys, don't bring that name on this board:eek:.
Just the tape job from these guys makes me cry.
$500 don't even cover the materials for a decent paint job, lol. Especially if it's red [8D].

The cost to do what you are asking (the right way) would be $15k in mechanicals, $5k in paint for a cost of $20k. ....and then thevalue of the car would be reduced immediately; Think you'd better trade.

Why did you buy it if you dont like it....(don't say price, because if you look hard enough you can find one you want in the color you want) I think your best bet at this point would be to trade it in for what you want. Good luck finding what you want.

When this happened to my car the damage was basically deep scratches and small dents. The total bill was just over $6,000 for the complete repaint and repair. Also went with the darkest shade of black [sm=bling.gif].

My paint and installation of my Cervinis kit (which should be done at the end of this week!!!) is costing me 5k. It is being done by Hot Rods and Hobbies in Signal Hill, CA. He does excellent work and so far it looks amazing.

Oh ya, and I got stripes too.

5000 to paint a body kit. So imagine what they would have charged you to paint the whole car/ change colors and paint engine bay door sills etc instead of just some bodykit pieces?
