If I went with a 18 inch tire would you recommend B.F. Goodrich like I've seen on the new Mustangs?

I've had Pierlei tires twice now and I was thinking about going to a 18 inch tire. Will I lose any bottom end performance. They do look better. What tire would you suggest that won't cost me an arm?

well you'll need 18 inch rims first[8D]
i've got the standard bfgoodrich's on my 18" factory bullitts and they have more traction than the pirelli's on the stock 17" wheels did for sure.

I'm currently in the process of replacing my stock 235/50/18's BFG KDWSincluding the stock 18" fan blades with wider rims and tires. They're a pretty good tire overall and new the price is right. If you want my used wheels and tires we can probably cut a deal. I have about 13,000 miles on them. But I'll be breaking them down to get the TPMS sensors out of them. Let me know if you're interested.

I have 255/45/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar from www.onlinetires.com for about $150 apiece.

I just bought a set of 255/45ZR-18 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 to go on my new wheels from tirerack and they so much better then the stock 17" I was using.

All of the tires mentioned have very close to the same diameter and are the same as the 235/55-17's. There isn't enough difference in the overall effective gearing, one size here to another,to matter.
The rotating inertia effects are perhaps enough to measure with track timers, but not enough to feel the difference in the acceleration between, SOTP style. Better tire grip matters far more, and can go either way. Newish but "broken-in" tires are generally much grippier than old, hard, heat-cycled-out tires.
When my GT gets here, I have every intention of keeping the OE 18" wheels and 235/50 rubber (which I believe is the BFG KDWS's) at least for the early going, and for winter use after this summer. A more extreme package is pictured for some hard summer driving.

depending on the weight of the rims and tires, yes you could lose some performance from a dyno point of view. But is you put more tire underneath you, you will hook better and your ET times should decrease. So it depends on what you are after, dyno numbers or ETs. You aren't going to lose 10whp like the people that put 20's on but there theoretically should be a change it you are going with a heavier wheel tire package.

I have the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2's. Awesome tire. I have 255/45/18 in the front and 285/40/18 in the rear. They drive so much better than stock. Highly recommend this setup.

235/50-18s
235 divided by 25.4 equals 9.25 wide
9.25" x .50 x 2 + 18equals 27.25" tall
27.25" x pi equals 85.608" round
63360 inches per mile
63360 divided by 85.608" equals 740 revs / mile
255/45-18s
255 divided by 25.4 equals 10.03" wide
10.03" x .45 x 2 + 18 equals 27.03" tall
27.03" x pi equals 84.924" round
63360 inces per mile
63360 divided by 84.924" equals 746 revs / mile
About the same speedo and take-off wise but
more rubber width to the pavement.
