Default Benefits of a Tuner

If I were to get a tuner right now, what would its benefits be, and would it be worth the cost? All I've done to my car that'd affect performance are underdrive pulleys, and a high flow air filter (not a replacement CAI).

I certainly plan to do more, such as an aftermarket CAI, driveshaft, etc.

Would the benefits of a tuner without many performance mods be worth the cost?

Also, is there a general consensus as to which is preferred? SCT vs. DiabloSport vs. Others?

Thanks

the concensus here would suggest that you get a combo cai+tuner. you'll see the most benefit from that, and save yourself money in the long run since the tune would need re-adjusted after a cai was added.

That will definitely be the most popular opinion.

Ditto on getting the CAI & tune combo. There's a multitude of info on the forum on this. Bang-for-the-buck, the combo will net you about 20-25 (maybe more) RWHP. If you get just the tune figure about 3-5 HP less plus you'll have to get new tunes (more $$) after you get the CAI.

I bought my tuner first, knowing I'd get a CAI later on.

The SCT tuners are more popular due to way more people doing tuning for them, but I didnt know that and I got the Diablo Predator. Only b@machips seems to tune for the predator.

Anyways, the tuner alone was great because it woke the car up. I then used its built-in tune for a JLT cold-air intake later on. It ran kind of rich, so when I had some extra $$$ I had b@machips send me a much better tune.

But the built-in one worked fine up until then....

Anyways, I've had b@ma do my tuning for new mods and the predator and its computer interface have worked great...

Also, its cool at data logging.

Basically, the tuner is the key to modding your car. Its a vital step in everything you do.

IMO it was worth the cost of the tuner (SCT/B@MA) just to get rid of that blasted throttle lag.

Yes, a tuner is the best thing you can do for your car IMO.

I recommend going with a Xcal2 from Justin @ VMP Tuning.
